Angaya podi has been used in many Tamil households for years. This podi is a combination of spices and Herbs. Angaya podi is a nutritious powder.Mainly Angaya Podi is should be made in households where there are new mothers.But everyone should take this atleast 15 days once for their Health.It relieves stomach upset, cures indigestion and vomiting, loss of appetite,sore throat, ulcer, cold and cough, and so on.

Health & Medical Benefits Of Angayapodi:

Dried Neem Flowers– Helps improve eyesight and helps in the treatment of digestive disorders,especially those relating to the liver.It is traditionally used for expelling intestinal worms.

Turkey BerryAmoebic dysentery, is an infection caused by any of the amoebas Group. Sundakkai(Dried Turkey Berry )is very much useful for destroy amoebic Bacteria.Turkey Berry (Sundakkai) is said to have anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties.

Manathakkali vattal-When fried and eaten help in reducing gas. Manathakkali is a rich source of Vitamin B and the leaves are often cooked and eaten to treat mouth ulcers.It is excellent for maintaining the health of the liver.

Coriander– Its an anti-oxidant.

Curry leaves It contain large amounts of fiber. Curry leaves are rich in iron, is anti-diabetic and also an anti-oxidant. It prevents premature graying of hair.

Cumin-It is a good digestive aid.Useful for Wait Loss.

Dried ginger & asafoetida-Both are very good digestives.

Ingredients:

Dry Turkey Berry (Sundakkai vathal) – 1 cup

Dry Black Night Shade(Manathakali vathal) -1 cup

Dry neem flowers – 1 cup

Pepper – 1 tbsp

Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp

Coriander seeds – 1 cup

Red chillies – 10r2

Dry ginger powder – 1/4 tsp

Toor dal – 1 tbsp

Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp

Asafoetida 1/2 tsp

Salt as required

Preparation Method:

Dry roast all the ingredients separately and powder it in a mixer.

Angaya podi is ready. Mix with hot rice and Ghee.

Serve Hot.

Tips

If you want to make own Sundakkai vathal by getting the green Sundakkai, cutting it half open and soaking it in salted buttermilk and drying it in the sun.Use the same process for manathakali vathal also . But in this case you need not to cut the manathakali.But Now a days, those are readily available in most stores.
Salt also has to be fried.Dry fry crystal salt, just one fry is enough.You can use Crystal Salt or Rock Salt if possible.

Usually Angaya Podi is mixed with hot rice and ghee.It has a slightly bitter in taste. So Children May not eat that. sometimes Grown ups 🙂 .So I have decided to make it something Different .Got an idea to mix it with tomato rice .Fortunately It Comes very well.Plese click the link Below to know the Recipe.
