Gooseberry Soup /Rasam (Two-in-One Special)

Goosberry/Amla is widely used in Ayurvedic treatments.Very rich in vitamin C and contains many minerals.It is a very powerful antioxidant agent.


This recipe is very tasty and very easy to make.This is one of the traditional methods of making gooseberry soup in

Tamilnadu (Southern Part of India ).we can eat this recipe with rice as a rasam .So this is actually a Two-in-One Recipe.

Ingredients:
Gooseberries – 10 to 15 (Medium Size)
Chana Dal – 1 cup
Oil – 1 tsp
Ginger- 1 small piece
Garlic pods- 5 or 6
Curry leaves- 10
Turmeric powder -1 pinch
Pepper powder- 1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves (for Garnishing)

Preparation Method
Soak the chana dal for half an hour before start cooking
Pour one tsp of oil in a pan
Allow to heat
Fry chopped ginger and chopped garlic till the raw smell goes
Remove the gooseberries seeds and grind coarsely ( without adding water )
Add the coarsely ground gooseberry in a pan
saute for while
Add soaked chana dal with water
add enough salt
Allow to boil
Add turmeric powder in this stage
cover with lid and allow to cook for 20 minutes in simmer
you can add little more water if needed
you can find color change in chana dal because of gooseberries
switched off the stove
Add pepper powder
Transfer it in to a serving bowl
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves
Gooseberry Soup is ready to taste
The taste is Really ultimate.
